Math Center:
The Math Center is designed to help you improve their skills.  If you have  homework questions please attend my Thursday office hours from 2:45-3:30 pm.  The Math center is not designed for homework time or homework questions.

 The upcoming workshop will concentrate on the following skills:

Periods 2& 3:  In class we reviewed adding and subtracting decimals by playing "the traveling Math problem".

Periods 2 & 3:  In class we worked on multi-digit multiplication.  Levels 1 - 4.  Some students moved on to level 5: Multiplying decimals (common core standard).

Week of Sept. 8th - Sept. 12th

Wednesday, 9/10/14:
Periods 1,5 & 6:  Today during class we will be applying the algorithm for multiplying multi digit decimals in a real world situation.  In class, the students will be working on "school supply" shopping list.

Periods 2 & 3:  Today, we will be practicing multiplying multi-digit whole numbers.  Students will be able to apply this to their 6th grade common core math  class.


Tuesday:
Periods 1, 5, & 6:
Due Wednesday:  Part 1 Multiplying decimals and quiz corrections*
* Quiz corrections must be done on a sheet of binder paper.

Periods 2 & 3:
Today in math lab we reviewed how to subtract decimals.  We tap into our kinetic learning by moving to the rules:  Addition/ subtraction line up the decimals. Addition/ subtraction line up the decimals. MULTIPLICATION move the decimal.
Monday, 9/8/14:

Due Wednesday:  Part 1 Multiplying decimals and quiz corrections*

Periods 2 & 3:  Today in math lab we reviewed how to add decimals.  The number one mistake students make when adding decimals is they forget to line them up!
In class, we worked on decimal list addition.  We corrected and collected this page.
We also watched this crazy video to help us to remember to "Line them up!"

Period 2 & 3: Today, we focussed on subtracting multi-digit whole numbers with regrouping.  This is a skill needed for 6th grade common core math class.

Please correct any missed problems from your quiz on a separate sheet of paper.
Quiz retakes will be given on Thursday After school.

Aug. 15,2013

Yay!  Week one is done.  We learned so much in three day.  We learned the schedule rotation, how to use the classroom supplies, working together and Falcon Expectations.  Next week, We will start Unit1: Operations with Rational Numbers.
